TSC TE200 Not Printing, Skipping Labels, or Feeding Blanks? Here's the Real Fix

Fix 1: Set the Correct Print Method (Ribbon vs Direct Thermal)

This is the number-one cause of blank labels on the TE200, and it's the first thing to check because the TE200 is a dual-mode printer. The print method has to match the media you physically loaded:

Quick way to tell which media you have

Scratch the label surface hard with your fingernail or a coin. If a dark mark appears, it's direct-thermal media (no ribbon, set Direct Thermal). If nothing happens, it's a thermal-transfer label that needs a ribbon (set Thermal Transfer). This 5-second test settles most blank-label cases.

Fix 2: Run Gap Sensor Calibration

Calibration teaches the TE200 the exact length of your labels and the size of the gap between them. Any time you change label size, switch rolls, or start seeing skipping and blank feeds, calibrate — it clears the majority of skipping cases on its own.

Method A: FEED-button auto-calibration (fastest)

Make sure labels are loaded correctly and the cover is closed, with a solid green status LED

Press and hold the FEED button until the printer feeds a few blank labels to measure the gap, then release

Send a test print. The label should now print in the right place without skipping.

Still skipping after calibration?

If calibration runs but the printer still skips, the sensor type is almost certainly wrong (set to Black Mark or Continuous while you're using die-cut Gap labels), or the gap sensor is dirty (Fix 4). Calibration can't succeed if the printer is looking for the wrong kind of gap.

Fix 3: Match the Driver Label Size (Windows 11)

If the TE200 prints one label and stops, prints off-center, or broke right after a Windows update, the driver label size is the prime suspect. Windows 11 often auto-installs a generic driver or keeps a stale label size, so the printer stops after what it thinks is the last label — or shifts everything down the roll.

Why the driver causes "prints one label and stops"

The printer prints exactly the area the driver tells it to. If the driver's label height is shorter than your physical label, the printer finishes early and stops; if it's longer, content bleeds onto the next label. Matching the driver's label dimensions to your real media — to the millimeter — fixes both. If TSC lists your labels as a preset stock, pick that instead of typing a custom size.

Fix 4: Clean the Gap Sensor

If the print method, calibration, and sensor type are all correct and it still skips, the gap sensor may be blocked by label dust or adhesive. This is common on high-volume machines or in dusty environments.

Turn off the TE200 and unplug it

Open the cover, remove the roll, and locate the gap sensor in the label path

Wipe the sensor and the platen roller with a cotton swab dampened in 99% isopropyl alcohol
